Come live a typically islander culinary experience! Discover all the traits that make "Pied-de-Vent" cheese so special. Meet passionate artisans and learn the ropes of their art. This tour will also provide a couple of presentations on the whole process along with some historical contexts. It will end with a tasting of some of their exquisite products.
Visit of the "barbôcheux"
On the Magdalen Islands, "barbocher" is an ancient word that means roaming from house to house to drink with friends. Usually at that time, that also meant that what you were drinking was "bagosse", our very own unique traditional and homemade alcool. This tour will have you visit our local brewers and will end in a tasting.
Stop at the "échouerie" lighthouse
Constructed in 1928, the "échourie" lighthouse is the last one to ever be constructed on the islands. The surrounding "Alright" cliff is considered particularly dangerous for fishermen. In 2005 Post Canada puts the "échouerie" lighthouse on one of their stamps, making it an important symbol country-wide.
